Poster mood board

This mood board allowed me to gain some knowledge of what mainstream film poster contains. As it is shown, the film poster does not have much writing and is kept quite simple to make sure the main focus is on the image rather than the texts included.

From this mood board for magazine cover, where I was able to gain some ideas for the different layout position and the types of shots used for the main image.

Poster- layout ideas

This is my first idea, which is a very common layout found in majority mainstream as well as independent films. 

The second one is similar to the first idea but the title and the slogan is located at the bottom of the poster. The title are sometimes located at the bottom of the poster. 

This is the final idea, which is also quite similar to the two ideas above, which is also found in majority film posters. 

The reason I have similar layouts that conforms to mainstream film posters is because it is much more easier to construct a film poster that conforms to the mainstream layout. Thus, this will ensure that my final film poster will contain qualities a normal film poster would, making it look professional. 

Magazine layout- ideas

This is one of the layout idea, which employs the conventional layout of the shape 'C'. 

This is a second layout idea, where the conventional shape of 'O' is used. 

Finally, this layout idea contains the conventional shape of 'Z'. 

All these conventional layouts are used by the mainstream media. Through the use of one conventional layout, it will allow my magazine cover to look professional. If such conventional layout is not used, there could be a risk of the magazine cover to look like a film poster instead. 

Magazine convention

This is an example of what a magazine cover should contain, without these conventions my final magazine will not be able to look like a real magazine cover. Thus, these conventions are important as it is used in by the mainstream horror films to promote it ot their targeted audience.
